Baby JP | Destin Newborn Photographers

In case it wasn’t totally evident from these fabulously sweet photos, we’ve kind of got a thing for the wee ones.  And by “we’ve got a thing” for them, we really mean Lindsey has a thing for them.  You see, Lindsey’s good with the bebes.  Which is why we’ve affectionately dubbed her as our resident “Baby Whisperer”.  We like to think we’ve taught Lindsey a thing or two about tiny tots – given her immersion into the world of hanging with our spawn on a regular basis – but really, she just happens to have a knack for capturing newborns in way that reflects our photography style: organic, natural and real.  Our goal with being newborn photographers is portraying the sweet innocence of new life through the least amount of “posed” shots possible.  Just keepin’ it real, y’all.

Baby JP’s mom, Ashlee, knew Lindsey from way back when they used to walk the mean streets of Destin in their high school glory days, so being able to take this little guy’s first photos for them was something truly special.  Baby JP is an absolute doll, and we’re excited to see Lindsey really use her gift of swooning babies to her full potential.  I mean, really, could JP be any cuter?  Fabulous Destin newborn photographers are few and far between, so we’re pretty darn stoked to see Lindsey do amazing things in the baby department.  In fact, we think we’ll keep her.

If a few of these beautiful newborn portraits look familiar, this sweet little fella was delivered by the amazing Dr. Anne Marie Whitlock over at the Sacred Heart Medical Group and we have one of these portraits on display in their medical offices (along with about a dozen others)!   🙂

Senior Session in Rosemary Beach | Joanna Pratt

At first glance, the gorgeous photos you’re about to feast your little eyeballs on may look to be that of a stunningly beautiful bride.  Well, although “stunning” and “beautiful” certainly fit the bill for Joanna, a bride she is not (not yet anyway; sorry for the slight heart attack, Joanna’s dad).  Joanna hails all the way from the Big ‘D’ (and we do mean Dallas), and this gorgeous girl, while not quite yet ready for bridal-dom, is showing off the amazing dress she’ll be donning for a National Charity League event she’ll be attending.  Her mom, Cindy, contacted us recently to schedule Joanna’s Rosemary Beach senior portraits session, and explained that this insanely beautiful dress arrived the day before they were scheduled to hop on a plane to sunny Florida.  And lucky for them, Ryan & Lindsey had their camera knobs adjusted to the setting that says “really amazing” (because, duh, it’s all about the camera, right?  HA.  No.).
It’s no big secret that we’re mega-ultra-uber fans of Rosemary Beach.  Whether we’re photographing weddings, families frolicking on the beach, or a drop-dead gorgeous senior, we basically kick up our Toms in excitement every time we’re fortunate enough to click our camera buttons all over this amazing little beach community.  (Also, you should see Ryan try to “kick up his Toms”.  Not quite as dainty – or coordinated – as a leprechaun, but mildly hilarious nonetheless.  It’s even funnier when he has a camera slung over his shoulder.  We’ve encourage Lindsey to up her catastrophic insurance in the event she gets impaled by a camera lens.  Or a shoe.)
All antics aside, we thoroughly enjoyed taking Joanna’s senior photos.  She’s a gorgeous girl inside and out, and we were thrilled that she was able to wear this amazing dress for her photo session.

GEEK ALERT: We get really stoked about perfect lighting.  Also, non-rainy days are a pretty huge bonus.
Ok, seriously?  How cute is she??  PS – Chuck Taylors will crush our Toms any day of the week.

Digital Graffiti | Alys Beach Photography

If you haven’t experienced the awesomeness of Digital Graffiti, well, then, I’m afraid you just haven’t lived.  I mean, not to be all condescending or anything, but who on earth wouldn’t want to experience two nights of wicked-cool artwork projected digitally onto the pretty white backdrop of Alys Beach and a big ol’ party with fancy refreshments and block-rockin’ beats?  Color me crazy (see what I did there?), but this is only like THE party of the year.  And, as an official Digital Graffiti sponsor, we got to photograph it!  We’re even on the t-shirt and everything.  How cool is that?

Wanna know what else is cool?  These pictures!  That artwork!  The lady in the acrobat-contraption-thing hanging from the pretty tent (ok yeah, that was pretty much mind-blowing)!  The knock-your-socks-off Saturday night party where everyone danced and sang and sipped and laughed!  Oh, also – Alys Beach photography opportunities – that’s like the coolest thing, ever.

Life-sized Lite Bright!  Told you this event was super-awesome and cool!

If you haven’t experienced the out-of-this world amazingness that is the Caliza Pool, then you really need to meander on over there.  Soon.  Like, yesterday.  Ridiculous, I tell you.

What an amazing event!  We’re pretty darn honored to have been one of the Digital Graffiti event photographers and can’t wait to see what next year has in store!  (Erica’s looking forward to upping the ante and trying out for the acrobatic-swinging-lady gig.  We’ll be sure to dedicate an entire blog post to something that amazing…)

Baby It’s Cold Outside! | New Orleans Weddding Photographer

We couldn’t have picked a more appropriate day for this one — because baby, it IS cold outside!  And since we’re not quite ready to admit that the holidays are officially over (a lot of people are still off this week, right?  And the kids — all three of them — are still out of school, our tree is still up and pretty with its sparkling lights, so we’re still feeling quite festive…), we thought we’d give you just one last dose of holiday-inspired goodness.

We recently had the opportunity to pack up the Pure 7 team and venture over to New Orleans for this incredible editorial shoot.  We were thrilled to work with the lovely and ultra-talented Sapphire Events team, Valerie and Liz, and absolutely adored each and every one of these event professionals who brought this shoot to life.  We had a BLAST on this, and you can imagine our excitement when we learned it would be featured on Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book blog!  What an incredible and fun experience — and hanging out with this group of New Orleans wedding professionals made it that much more awesome.

Valerie, owner of Sapphire Events, was the mastermind behind it all, so we thought it best that she give us a little background on the specifics and inspiration for this holiday-inspired shoot.  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

*After you’ve looked through all the fun photos, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to check out the behind-the-scenes action captured by Alan!

“Inspired by the upcoming holiday season, we designed a modern inspiration shoot with a twist on traditional holiday décor!  We developed a design that diverted from the expected red and green so often used in Christmas decor. The inspiration for this shoot came from a favorite fabric we found in pink and gray tartan plaid – a traditional pattern with an unexpected pop of fun and flirty pink! This fabric was the central focus for the overall design and informed our decision making in selecting the venue, invitation design, tabletop décor, and even the delicious naked cake!

With mixed metals, white sequins, metallic curly willow, a touch of glitz and glamour, plus the lovely floral centerpieces from Kim Starr Wise, we juxtaposed natural elements with glamorous touches. The venue’s exposed brick, wooden beams, rustic chandeliers, and plentiful natural light pouring in from the skylight above set the ideal backdrop for our holiday scheme. Think about Santa coming down the chimney into this winter wonderland – and having a party to kick off the festivities! The naked cake we designed exposes the structure of the confection’s delicious layers, topped off with a sparkle glaze drizzled down the sides and a touch of the floral scheme to carry over the table top design.

Tupelo Honey executed the perfect stationery suite for our event, incorporating shades of pink, silver and gold with calligraphy that sparkled. How could anyone say no to such an invite? Holiday wreaths and pink flocked trees were festive additions to the backdrop. The contemporary yet cozy lounge area with textured and striped wallpaper, silver couch, and mirrored table is perfect for snuggling up with the one you love! While it may be cold outside, our couple has their love to keep them warm (and hot cocoa, too)! Steaming mugs of cocoa with marshmallows are a staple that this holiday celebration wouldn’t be complete without!

Cheers to a merry and bright holiday season!”

edson family portraits -destin florida

What a blast it was shooting these family portraits for the Edson family. We started at their house and then worked  our way to the beach and enjoyed the beautiful sunset… We love being beach photographers in Destin! I even got a couple shots of a future billabong model. 😉

Beach Photography- Porterfield Family

Welcome to our shiny, happy new blog! Long overdue, we know… we’ve been hard at work photographing beautiful weddings & families which you will soon see posted here. Being beach photographers in the Destin and Santa Rosa Beach area is a amazing, and certainly keeps us busy! In honor of the launch, we will be firing off a new post featuring our beach and wedding photographers’ awesome work every day for one week solid (so be sure to add us to your blog reader if you haven’t already, as we have some fun things in store). To kick it off, we wanted to share one of our favorite family sessions from this summer. The Porterfield sisters were a JOY to photograph… so full of vivacity and life. We are so thankful to them and all of our wonderful clients for allowing us to capture some special times playing together while vacationing in beautiful Destin, Watercolor, Rosemary or anywhere near 30A. We love being wedding and beach photographers and we hope that shows through our images. Capturing families interacting and having fun together is one of our favorite things to do. Enjoy, and check back tomorrow to see what else we have in store!

happy father’s day!

we posted these yesterday on our fan page as a tribute to all of the fabulous father’s on their day.  here are 100 of our favorite father, grandfather, and father-to-be images.

operation smile 2012

as a proud member of the ppa (professional photographers of america), we had the wonderful opportunity to host a fundraiser through their charity division (ppa charities) for operation smile, who provides cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to children in need.  on saturday april 21, we joined other portrait photographers all over the country in hosting an all-day event in our studio for new and old clients.  on this day, each person who gave a minimum donation of $24 was in return gifted with a 10 minute mini session at our destin studio and a complimentary 5×7 fine art portrait (or digital file if image was a head-shot for professional use).  this was our first year participating in the fundraiser and it was a huge success!  on saturday alone we raised enough money to give 10 surgeries to children across the globe in need!  we received many outside donations from those that were unable to attend and many of those that did attend gave more than the minimum donation.  the final count for our funds raised will be officially announced on our fan page next week, as we’ve still got some donations trickling in.  here are some portraits captured of those that are the reason this event was such a success.  thanks again to all that participated and donated to the cause, we loved meeting and photographing you and your families!
