WaterColor, FL Weddings | Catherine+Malcolm

When the the Pure7™ team first started our correspondence with and met Catherine, Malcolm, Catherine’s mom (Kristin) and dad back in June, we were immediately excited. First of all, they are all wonderfully sweet people and we hit it off from the start. Second, we absolutely love photographing and filming WaterColor FL, Weddings. Third, we adore photographing  ‘Petite Weddings’ which is what this beautiful couple chose for their August 18th nuptials. I could go on with all the ways we fell in love with this couple but I’ll stop so we can get to their gorgeous images!

Surrounded by the closest of family & friends, Catherine and Malcolm professed their love for one another in a beautiful, intimate ceremony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s Emerald Coast. Don’t you just love the unique bouquet created by the amazing Bella Flora team? Following their beach wedding, the couple joined their friends & family for a reception dinner at the fabulous Fish Out of Water Restaurant (also in WaterColor Resort). Ryan & Alan were there to capture it all via photographs and video and here is what Catherine had to say of their experience:

“Malcolm and I absolutely love our wedding photos! This was the best day of our lives, and we could not have asked for a better photographer to capture this special day. Everyone at Pure7 felt like part of the family because they made everything so fun and comfortable. We are so thankful that we are able to look back and remember all of the joy and laughter. WE LOVE PURE 7!”

Many thanks to Catherine & Malcolm (and Kristin!) for choosing and allowing the Pure7™ photography + videography team to be a part of such a special day in your lives!

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

The perception of “beauty” in today’s society is very disappointing.  I feel like body image is such a monumental issue that we all deal with at some point in our life.  Being a photographer, I have an opportunity to see and hear it all.  Thanks to Photoshop, any imperfection can be permanently removed with a click and a drag of the mouse.  But is that really a good thing?  In my opinion, photos should be looked at as a reflection in time, a moment that has been captured and will be treasured for many years to come.  A picture tells a story.  Accept the fact that right now you might be heavier than you’d prefer, or that you are not 100% perfect.  I love photography but it breaks my heart to hear a mother say she does not want to be photographed because of her image.  Missing out on the opportunity to have an image that will never be captured.  This is something that has really been heavy on my heart.  Society and the media certainly has not helped us with perception of true beauty and healthy body image, which is very sad.  Many of the major magazines airbrush or Photoshop their covers to give a false sense of “perfection”.  I have a daughter who has interest in photography, and I want to instill in her acceptance for who she really is.  We do not need the world’s approval, we have God’s approval.  The media is telling you that you will never be the way you want to be.  See the beauty in imperfection.

I love this Dove beauty campaign, encouraging the beauty that is.

Baby Adalynn | Destin Newborn Photographer

Destin Newborn Photographer

Destin Newborn Photographers.

Newborn photographers in destin Florida

Michael and his beautiful wife, Lacy, welcomed their first child (beautiful baby Adalynn) into the world his summer. Ryan & Lindsey were absolutely honored to have the opportunity to photograph them during one of our signature Lifestyle Newborn Sessions at their home in Niceville, FL. Being a Destin Newborn photographer, Our goal is to make the process of documenting this special time in our clients lives the most relaxing, enjoyable time possible, with our intention being to create heirloom quality wall portraits, canvases and albums to display in their homes and pass down to future generations (to learn more about our products, click here and scroll down to ‘Heirloom Products’).  While in years past we chose to use studio lights, props, and silly hats galore, we have now transitioned to natural in-home and outdoor newborn sessions. These types of photography sessions lend themselves perfectly to capturing the intimate, fleeting moments of ‘real life’ with your newborn – in a way that cannot be achieved within the confines of a studio. Photographing these types of sessions also enable us to use our beloved film cameras, the resulting images of which our clients adore! Michael, the handsome daddy featured in these images said: “I love that you guys use the old school film along with the digital to capture that moment.” We agree, Michael, and we love the art of film photography as well. After the session, the entire family (grandparents on both sides and all!) came to the studio to view their images and make their purchases. We’re currently in production of an 8×8 Heirloom Portrait Album with 30 portraits beautifully displayed within it, as well as a beautiful Gallery-Wrapped Canvas to grace the walls of their home. We’re so thankful that this family chose Pure7 to document such a sacred time in their lives, and look forward to the opportunity to watch (and photograph) Adalynn as she continues to grow. ~Erica

Family Beach Portraits Seaside FL | Photography

Family Beach Portraits Seaside FL

Ryan absolutely loved meeting and photographing this beautiful family during their vacation in Seaside, FL.  We always love to hear what makes vacationing on our Emerald Coast so special to each family we meet, and here is what they had to say of their stay:

“We typically vacation at a new place every year – not usually big on repeats.  We went to Destin last year and literally decided to put our home on the market during our trip.  It sold in like 3 days!  So, my husband did paperwork the whole time and didn’t get to really enjoy it, so that’s why we went again this year.  We heard so many things about Seaside and decided to check it out.  We all LOVED it so much, we’ve already talked about going again next year.”

As you can see from their below family portraits, these adorable siblings just adore one another . . . as do their parents!  During our family beach portrait sessions, our photographers love capturing the family unit as a whole, and also the relationship between siblings as well as mommy & daddy.  The kids may cringe looking at “romantic” pictures of their parents now, but one day these images will surely hold a very special place in this family’s legacy.  At their purchasing appointment in our studio, they loved the images so much that we’re currently in production of four gallery-wrapped canvases and a gorgeous 10×10 heirloom portrait album with 40 portraits.  Mama had this to say of their experience:

“Our family had an instant connection and comfort level with Ryan.  His amazing work will provide picture-perfect memories of our family’s vacation for years to come.  We also appreciated the personal, low-key, no pressure service provided by Pure 7 Studios.”

We are so humbled and grateful that this family (and countless others) chose us to capture these priceless times in their family history.  Wishing all of our beloved clients a safe, blessed, and beautiful Labor Day Weekend!  ~Erica

We’re excited to feature Christie & Scott’s elegant Sandestin Hilton wedding photos + highlights video on the blog today! Ryan & Lindsey had a blast photographing it, joined by our very own videographer, Alan, who had the pleasure of filming and creating their wedding video.  We met with Christie and her mother-in-law, Brenda, a little more than a year before their wedding as they began their planning. Many couples having an Emerald Coast destination wedding are planning it remotely and don’t have the opportunity to meet with us prior to retaining our services (in which case we still enjoy meeting via phone, email, and Skype!), so it is always a treat to have clients to the studio to meet in person during their wedding planning. It was evident upon meeting Christie and hearing her story how absolutely in love with her groom (to be) she was! In Christie’s own words,

“Scott and I met through mutual friends four years ago and did long distance while he was stationed in New Orleans and I was living in Destin, FL. The Coast Guard ended up moving him to Mobile, AL where I decided to join him. It was our first Christmas in our new home when he asked me to marry him. He hid the ring in my Christmas stocking and I was completely surprised when he asked! We were engaged for a year and a half and my future mother-in-law at the time did most of the planning. She was incredible and the wedding turned out to be more than I could have ever dreamed for! The day of the wedding I was surprisingly very calm. It was very overcast and I was worried about the pictures coming out perfectly. Luckily our photographers captured so many wonderful moments and the cloudy day made for some beautiful pictures! Everyone kept telling me that my wedding day is going to go by so fast and be such a blur, they were absolutely right! I am so happy we decided to do the video as well. I have watched our wedding video at least a hundred times already. Pure 7 really made this day even that much more special and we will always be so thankful.”

Before the wedding we also had the opportunity to photograph Christie’s bridal portraits at Eden Gardens State Park which were proudly displayed at the wedding reception. We’re in the final stages of the album design process of Christie & Scott’s gorgeous bridal album (and Brenda’s parent album), and are so excited for them to see them soon!  Thank you, Christie, Scott, and Brenda for choosing our team to document your wedding day!  ~ Erica

Megan & Blake’s Wedding Highlights Film | Rosemary Beach Videographer

Just east of Rosemary Beach, Megan & Blake’s Inlet Beach wedding was truly a beautiful sight to behold, and one that Alan really enjoyed filming.  The ceremony led way to a fantastically fun celebration at Grande Point Pavilion, also in Inlet Beach.  The color palette that Meghan, a talented stylist at the Crown Beauty Bar in Arkansas (follow her on Instagram, under ‘this_is_meganharris’, she’s amazing!), chose for her wedding was very vibrant and pretty, and lent itself perfectly to a visually stunning wedding video.  The “getting ready” portion of the day also proved super fun to film . . . it doesn’t get much better than bridesmaids jumping on beds singing Miley Cyrus!  This couple chose the uber talented Arden, of It’s A Shore Thing, as their wedding planner and together they created a wedding dreams are made of.  Alan also enjoyed working with their amazing photographer, Dear Wesleyann, who is always a joy to work with. We hope that you enjoy their wedding film as much as we did creating it!  ~ Erica

Heule & Gillis Family Portraits| Destin, FL Photographers

We know we say it a lot, but we love being Destin, FL photographers. Lindsey had the pleasure of photographing a Destin beach portrait session for these lovely families during their recent vacation.  The moms, Erika & Jenny, have been friends since high-school and their families vacation in Destin, FL together each year.  This year they decided to have photographs taken to commemorate the occasion and we’re so glad to have had the opportunity to do so for them! Ericka and her husband, Chris, had this to say of their portrait session:

“Thanks to Pure 7 for helping make our family vacation a wonderful experience with photos to last a lifetime. You captured our precious moments with our loved ones and best friends and we hope to continue to make this a tradition with you all.”

Thank you, Heule & Gillis families, for entrusting Pure7 to capture these photographs during your stay on the Emerald Coast!  ~ Erica

Beach Photographers | Family Portraits Rosemary Beach

Ryan so enjoyed this Rosemary Beach family portraits session taken last month. They were such a sweet family.  When asked what made this particular 30A vacation so special, Jennifer’s response was so great we couldn’t help but share:

“We had so much fun at Rosemary Beach.  It was our first time there.  The last time we went to FL beaches, we went to Destin 6 years ago when our kids were 2 and 5 months old to escape Hurricane Ike which hit Houston pretty hard.  This time was much, much different!  Our kids have obviously grown a lot since then and were able to bike all over Rosemary Beach, Seacrest and Alys Beach.  They were able to toss a football with their dad or play tag with other vacationing kids outside our door on the Eastern Green (where the family portrait of all 7 of us was taken).  They swam at the pool and played at the beach every day.  They woke up late, weren’t on any sort of schedule all day and went to bed late which sounds pretty perfect for a vacation.  They went to Sugar Shak almost daily and got things there that sounded repulsive to us adults like a yard-long gummy snake or a yard of bubble gum.  Basically, they got to be kids and make a lot of the choices for a week.  And they got to spend the whole week with their baby cousin who they adore.  They say the part they’ll miss about our vacation the most is being able to play with their cousin any time they want.

These pictures are special to us because they mean family time to us.  They mean slowing down and letting everyone relax and letting kids be kids rather than the faster pace that we keep during the school year at home.  Also, our family of 4 had never had a professional family photo before.  We get the kids pictures professionally done at least 3 times a year and have lots of canvases of them all over our house, but this was truly our first family photo.

We are very, very thankful for you guys at Pure 7.  We were blessed that you were available when we were in FL, that Ryan was so patient with us and loved his easy going personality.  We felt at ease with Ryan were also amazed at the quality of the pictures/shots Ryan got.  And Lindsey has also been a pleasure to work with.  She’s also been so patient with us!  I’ve changed my mind a few times (too many great choices to choose from) and added on, etc., etc.   At our purchasing appointment, she was on time and valued our time so that we could get back out to having fun on the beach.  She was so great about going through the images with us as many times as we needed without guilt to hurry, and she helped give us pointers when we couldn’t decide or had a hard time choosing.  We are looking forward to working with Lindsey for our final Pure 7 item… Christmas cards. We are really excited about our session and getting our images in our hands so we can show all our friends and family!”

Thank you, Jennifer & family, for sharing what your Rosemary Beach, FL vacation and portraits meant to you.  We look forward to seeing and photographing you during future vacations to our Emerald Coast!  ~Erica
