Bohemian WaterColor Wedding | Shannon & Ryan

The saying, “April showers bring May flowers” certainly was true at Shannon’s and Ryan’s tropical bohemian WaterColor wedding last month. A wonderfully warm spring day along the Emerald Coast was the perfect backdrop for this lush, colorful wedding at one of 30A’s choice wedding venues.

With the bride wearing an absolutely fabulous flower crown and her dream gown by Israeli designer Berta, how could this gorgeous day be anything less than perfect? As you scroll through these photos, which are a mix of digital and film images, you’ll see how every detail, from the mini-crown for the flower girl to the bride’s crystal headpiece worn for post-ceremony photos, came together to make it exactly that: perfect.

Senior Session in Santa Rosa Beach | Madeline Quarrier

Senior photos are a rite of passage. Not all kids fit the mold, though, and their senior session should capture who they actually are during this crazy, exciting season. So it was really a no-brainer when we planned this shoot because we happened to know this girl personally, and she’s definitely got her own style. It was an easy choice to skip the beach and wander down some side streets and back roads with a film camera added to our usual arsenal of digitals.

Madeline’s images are breathtaking and everything she had to say about life at this age reminded us of ourselves not that long ago (except our senior session pics were never this cool – trust us).

Beach Portrait Session | Jones Family

What do you do when the kids are scattered about the country and mom has a milestone birthday coming up? Gather everyone and convene in the spot where the family has vacationed for 40+ years, of course. Oh, and place a special order for absolutely perfect weather because, well, it’s for mom.

A regular on a plethora of top beach destination lists, this beach portrait session proved why the Destin area was the perfect choice for this boisterous family’s celebration.

Waves of Grace | Lake Family Portrait

Although this is definitely the thick of family portrait season, we shoot them pretty much year-round. Such was the case with the Lake family, who enjoyed our beautiful beaches during the cooler months courtesy of Nashville-based Waves of Grace. This organization is one of several that provide beach vacations for families dealing with cancer, giving them a refreshing, life-giving change of pace from daily routines defined by medical appointments and prescription refills.
Though they love living in Nashville, Jennifer Lake said she and her husband Bruce were so happy to have some time away from cancer treatments to laugh together and relax with their daughters. The sobering reality of their life for the past year or so made them appreciate more than usual the opportunity for family photos.

“Having our family pictures taken is a gift we will treasure for the rest of all our lives,” Jennifer said. “We feel it is a gift to future generations of the family, as well.” And the Lake family certainly has had a huge impact on future generations. Though there are only four of them in the photos, the Lake family tree has had 22 other family members grafted into it for a very special reason.

A Seaside Wedding Celebration | Courtney & Aaron

We love that Courtney chose to start her Seaside wedding day by having her bridesmaids join her for morning yoga, because they definitely needed all their energy for this lively weekend! As you’ll see in the video at the end of this post, Courtney & Aaron’s Seaside wedding was a jubilant affair, filled with family, friends, and lots of laughter!

Rich Jewish traditions were woven throughout the entire day. As guests sipped champagne on the lawn at Ruskin Place, family gathered at Ruskin House for the signing of the Ketubah and their own special toast to the happy couple. Following the ceremony, enthusiastic guests were escorted by a live horn section through the cozy streets of Seaside to the next portion of the evening, held on Lyceum Lawn. There they were welcomed into a lavish tent drenched in breathtaking florals and chandeliers, and seated at gorgeous tables prepared for a wonderful celebration. As wine service began, the blessing over the wedding challah kicked off a reception that had guests dancing well into the night.READ MORE

Wedding Highlights Video | Randi & Ben in Rosemary Beach

One of our favorite 30A weddings this year turned out to be the perfect example of what happens when all the elements come together for the ideal wedding highlights video.

We were lucky enough to both photograph and film Randi & Ben‘s engagement session in NYC and their wedding day in Rosemary Beach. We really have had just the best time with this couple since we met last summer. When Alan showed the rest of the Pure7 team their completed wedding highlights video, we could not wait to send it to the bride & groom, because we knew they’d be thrilled. And we were right.

“I have dying all day not to watch this until Ben and I were together today post work,” Randi wrote. “We just got our first (and second and third) peek and it is just perfect. Well done, Alan!! Thank you all for capturing it so perfectly. We absolutely love it!”
Nearly every detail of the day was perfect, including Ben’s toast. As a matter of fact, when the audio from his “how we met” story was paired with the cityscape footage from the Big Apple engagement session, even Nora Ephron could not have scripted a better intro.

Milestone Collection | Hines Family

Saylor just celebrated her first birthday. As you’ll see in the milestone portrait session photos further down in the post, this little girl has some breathtaking baby blues. When we asked her mom to choose, though, Christyl’s favorite picture of her little miracle is from their newborn portrait session, the one she calls the “baby bird picture.” We had to agree.

Saylor Hope had her name from the time her mom was in the 7th grade, a nod to her Andalusia family’s frequent trips to the beach during her childhood. Christyl met Tom in high school and, as it turned out, he also grew up with sand in his shoes. The name she had already chosen for her first daughter was a perfect fit.READ MORE

WaterColor Weddings | Elaine & Turner

What do you do when you’re on a first date with a beautiful girl who orders fish for the shared main course at a fondue restaurant, and you don’t like seafood?
You eat it anyway.
Nearly four years and a few fights over OU football later, that dinner paid off for Turner as he and Elaine said “I do” on an absolutely picture-perfect day in WaterColor.

We’re pretty sure Turner had a voice in the final dinner selections, because we noticed there was no seafood dish on their mouthwateringly Southern menu.

Rosemary Beach Weddings | Ali & Brian

The understated elegance of Rosemary Beach was the ideal backdrop for Ali and Brian’s classic color scheme of black and white with gold accents. The event planner was absolutely thrilled with her destination wedding to her CPA groom, and they both thoroughly enjoyed their weekend in one of the most beautiful places along the Emerald Coast.

“So many people warned us it would go by quickly and we wouldn’t remember a thing,” Ali said. “We feel incredibly lucky because we remember every detail! The day as a whole was so fun and filled with so much laughter and love.” Even the flower girl yelling that she had to go potty in the middle of the ceremony was right in line with their self-described goofy personalities and has become a fond memory from this lively event.
