Contrast and Color in Alys Beach Wedding Photos| Caroline & Matt

Sometimes you see things and they just speak to you. For some unexplainable reason this experience is a game changer. Well, Caroline and Matt’s wedding – and now wedding photos –  were a game changer for us.  Alys Beach is known for its impeccably white walls and Caroline’s vision incorporated contrast and color everywhere, which was probably a first for the beach town.

These two aren’t like other couples so it only makes sense their photos didn’t turn out like other wedding photos. Ryan and Lindsey were able to frame photos so the colors convey a sense of movement and playfulness matching the newlyweds personalities spot on. Truth be told, Caroline and Matt just being “Caroline and Matt” really make the wedding photos.  Their ability to be playful and loud in some moments while others are timeless black and whites also contributed to Ryan and Lindsey delivering a stunning photo collection.

Seeing the contrasting mixture inspires and reminds us there is always room to play and push the edge of what seems right or comfortable. It’s truly magical how well it all came together. Look at the ceremony with the guests. Could they have “dressed the part” any better? And the blue of the sea and sky. Even as locals it’s hard to believe its real. The day couldn’t have been any better and Caroline and Matt cherished every moment with their family and friends.

We are so thankful for them and all little wedding “wins” that aligned so we could create this special collection of wedding photos so Caroline and Matt can look back on their big day.

Working with Waves of Grace

Today we’re sharing the family beach photos of families who came to Destin, 30A, or Panama City Beach on vacation with Waves of Grace. Our partnership with Waves of Grace is one we are both proud of and thankful for, and we get so much more out of these sessions than we could ever possibly give.

Waves of Grace is a non-profit providing beach vacations to cancer patients and their families.  They want to give these families an opportunity to come to the beach without the stresses of life at home or the worries of budgeting for a trip while medical costs pile up. As part of their trip they get a professional photographer to take family beach photos of them; that’s where we come in. It’s a pretty new organization, so we’ve watched them grow sending more families to our beautiful Emerald Coast. To learn about how you can donate or nominate someone who could use a trip for family fun and healing, please visit their website.

The first family photographed below is the Griers. They were given a beach vacation after three year old Faith went into remission and became a cancer survivor for the second time. Most of her life she’s faced sickness, pain, and suffering – yet in every photo she is smiling. We look at their family photos in awe. A picture can say a thousand words and none of theirs let on to the hardships and uncertainty they’ve faced over the past three years. As parents, Tiffany and Michael inspired us so much. It’s impossible to imagine what they’ve experienced and overcome together. May their best days be ahead.

We were also lucky enough to meet Jon and Robyn, as well as the Spivey family (both pictured below), while taking family beach portraits during their Waves of Grace vacations.  Not pictured are several other families photographed more recently, and we look forward to sharing their images as well in a future post. Spending time with these famililes reminds us how easy it is to get “busy” and lose sight of what really matters in life. Meeting the families WOG sends to our beaches helps us keep perspective here at Pure7 Studios. We hope you enjoy these images as much as we were blessed to create them.

Thank you, Waves of Grace, for giving us the opportunity to meet these families!

Santa Rosa Beach Wedding Video | Mary & Joe

You’d think after watching dozens of wedding videos filmed and edited by our wedding videographer that it would be easy to keep from getting emotional when we see one. We’re not talking crocodile tears – just a little feeling of love that makes your heart warm and your cheeks move ear to ear. You’re touched because you can see and feel the love that lived on the couple’s big day. Mary and Joe’s Santa Rosa Beach Wedding Video is no exception.

It opens on the brightest of days and sets the tone. Then we get to see Bridesmaids with the Bride and of course the Groomsmen with the Groom. (It’s always fun to see how different guys and girls are when it comes to getting ready.) Next, guests arrive and even though you know exactly what’s coming, you can’t help but be excited to see the ceremony and celebration that is sure to follow.

This couple’s ceremony took place in the beautifully sacred Saint Rita Catholic Church and the reception was at the Lakehouse inside the WaterColor Resort on 30A. The reception donned beautiful statement centerpieces, strung lights, and even a wardrobe change by the dazzling bride. There was such a happy, light energy that carried through to their wedding video. It’s something you just have to see for yourself. Maybe different things will stick out to you as you watch. Either way, one thing is clear- Alan made a beautiful wedding video of Mary and Joe’s wedding day that they can cherish forever.

Cheers to another wonderful wedding and couple we’re proud to call a client here at Pure7® Studios!

If you or someone you know is recently engaged and looking to do a destination wedding here on the Emerald Coast, please contact us for packages and pricing. Our schedule fills up fast with family beach photos, wedding photos, engagement sessions, (and of course wedding videos just like this one).

Modern Vintage Wedding in Watercolor, FL | Featured Friday

Can you believe July is over? This month just seemed to fly by as we went out to shoot our family beach photos and destination weddings up and down 30A. Another season of beautiful brides and dapper grooms were added to our Pure7 Family Photo Album. We can’t wait to show you all of their weddings and promise it’s worth the wait. In the meantime, we have a modern vintage wedding we photographed that was featured on Every Last Detail (ELD) just two days ago.

You’ll see in the photos why ELD just had to blog this wedding. While we’re proud of the photos, we must give our bride Kristen credit for having such a vision when she planned her big day. She thought of everything and while sometimes this can lead to an overdone color or clashing of multiple styles, Kristen out did herself to perfection. She took some very well known themes and made them her own which allowed us to really capture not only their big day at Watercolor Inn Resort, but who they are as a couple.

One of the most surprising or unique things about Kristen and Eric’s wedding is that they got married at one of the most sought after “beach wedding” locations – but they didn’t get married on the beach! We’re so happy they chose to get married here and, furthermore, that they chose us to shoot their wedding video and wedding photos. The video wasn’t included in the feature, so you’ll have to check back and see it all in action when we share it.

Take note of all of the awesome vendors that made this wedding so wonderful and be sure to pin your favorite pictures to Pinterest!

It’s a Wonderful Life in Watercolor | The Woolseys

We know it’s not Christmas time and we didn’t take pictures of anyone named George Bailey. But here at Pure 7 Studios we spent a family portrait session with the Woolsey family in Watercolor, FL. (Try saying that five times fast!) Looking back at their family portraits remind us why it’s a wonderful life. When things are wonderful we can’t keep it to ourselves.

He’s only three months old but we got to see some great personality from this little guy. Learning and seeing new things in the world for the first time. Watching him take it all in was priceless. Look at all of his different expressions below. Now just imagine what he’s thinking. How cool would it be if as adults we could remember our first thoughts. Perhaps we’d all show more appreciation for the little things.

Things like having a healthy and happy little one. It’s easy to forget how many couples face additional challenges and struggle to find ways for their child to grow up with the comforts today’s world can offer. Families come in all shapes and sizes and like George Bailey’s family, they come with a story. The Woolseys are writing the next chapter in theirs and since they smiled in awe the whole time, we think it’s going to be a good one.

It’s no secret we all face insecurities and struggles but there is much to be thankful for. Take our Pure7 Challenge and think of a few reasons why it truly is a wonderful life. Share one of them in the comments below or on social media with the #pure7challenge. Together we can make a wonderful life even better as we see the world through each other’s eyes.

Grandparent Portraits in Watercolor, FL |The Abneys

We are so excited to share the family beach photos we took of the Abney boys on their trip to Watercolor, FL. The main reason is because this was grandparent portraits session of Grandpa and his three grandsons. It’s not very often we get to spend an entire session shooting the special bond between these generations. Grandma even came and got in a few of the photos making it even more special for everyone.

Hopefully as these three boys grow up they will think back on this special trip and look at these photos appreciating the time they spent on our beautiful beaches with their Grandparents. They are definitely some of the lucky ones.

If you don’t have photos with your Grandparents it’s definitely something to consider doing. Even if you don’t  takes trips with them or want to use a family portrait photographer.  They would make a great father’s day present or addition to any family photo album.

Rosemary Beach Photos | The Abernathy Family

In the Rosemary Beach Photos we’re sharing with you today, we had the privilege of working with two of our favorite things. The Abernathy family and the absence of color. Despite regularly photographing beach weddings, we don’t really talk about white or how commanding it can be if worn in photos. (Perhaps it’s why brides wear white.) But when the below family beach photos of the Abernathys came out looking so chic, I knew we had to give credit to their white on white looks.

In case you don’t know, white is is an achromatic color which literally means  “color without color.” According to wikipedia white is one of the most common “colors” in nature. We didn’t doubt that for a second here in Florida. Just take a stroll along the Emerald Coast and you won’t either. The beaches really are made up of sugar-white sand. (But that’s a whole different story.)

As you scroll through the family photos below, we hope you notice how the bright white of their clothing really compliments and sets the tone of the photos allowing contrast with the more colorful back drops. We won’t say white is the only way to go but it sure did work for the Abernathys.

What do you think? Would you wear white on white?

Lauren & Trey’s Seaside Beach Wedding

When Jennifer {“Jen2”} from It’s a Shore Thing popped in one afternoon with Lauren to chat about the possibility of us photographing her upcoming Seaside Chapel wedding, we spent the next couple hours giddy with excitement after getting to know this sweet girl from Arkansas.  Not only do we love Seaside weddings, we also love a bride who we immediately click with.  They had spent the day talking flowers and food and cake and all-things wedding, so by the time they got to us, we were like, “Helloooo, let’s have this amazing wedding tomorrow!”  Jen the wedding planner basically thought we had lost our marbles {which sometimes happens when we get giddy with excitement; especially that Erica – she even starts climbing walls and running laps around the studio sometimes}, so we decided we put on our patient pants and wait until April rolled around for Lauren & Trey’s pretty wedding. And boy, oh boy, was it ever pretty!

We arrived to find our gorgeous bride getting dolled up by the oh-so-talented Johnathan Doria and Deana Kale, and even stumbled across all of Lauren’s wicked-fun details.  A cute weekend welcome packet, a gorgeous old Bible wrapped in ribbon for the sweet ring bearer to tote down the aisle, and a pair of sparkly pumps that made our little cameras do a slight backflip.  UH-dorable.  Oh, and did we mention the dress?   Sigh.  Being a wedding photographer is really hard sometimes.

We moseyed on over to the pretty white chapel for their sweet nuptials, then on to the drool-worthy {also known as reallydarnpretty} Lyceum Lawn reception, where we were ecstatic to find lawn games (hi, have you heard of life-sized Jenga?  Yeah, us either and it was pretty great), more sparkles, a chevron cake, and a whole night’s worth of boogie-down tunes.  Oh!  There was also a very fabulous church pew awaiting our arrival for those amazing beach sunset photos . . . all Lauren’s idea!  (We failed to mention that being a 30A wedding photographer is also really hard sometimes.)

Wanna see a Seaside beach wedding photographer in-action?  Well then lookie here:

Ever so grateful for the AMAZING team of wedding professionals that worked so hard to bring this gorgeous day together for two special people!

a family reunion…..

for the first time, we had the opportunity to photograph a family reunion get together in Seagrove Beach Florida.  luckily the rain had left us with a beautiful winter day for some frolicking on the beach before they gathered for dinner.  this was a beautiful family full of adorable, lively children (and adults, too).  they were such a joy!  hopefully we can be a part of their annual get together!

family faves 2011….

better late than never i say. i know the whole “best of 2011/year in review” stuff is usually around the first of the year. well, in case you have not figured it out we like to do things a little different around here. these pictures are some of my favorite from the past year. Some are Destin Wedding Photography sessions others are miscellaneous.  we are now gearing up for a crazy busy spring/summer. we look forward to all our new families and excited to see the families come back from years past.
