May is Mental Health Awareness month and we wanted to take a moment as we end the month to share about our focus on mental wellness and self-care as small business owners.  During the quarantine and Ryan’s recovery, we’ve been reminded to “savor the mundane” (a term coined by a dear friend that spoke at a marriage retreat).

This can be as simple as taking a moment to sit and enjoy the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a trip to the grocery store, or turning off the digital “noise” during household chores to listen to the sounds of nature or my children’s laughter.  Many things that we often take for granted during our fast-paced lives…

At Pure7, we intentionally put a high priority on self-care.  Not only for ourselves, but for our clients.  Since we work together in business and in marriage, how we show up individually and as a couple is incredibly important to maintain our family’s version of balance in life and in business.

We also pride ourselves on creating an unforgettable, personalized experience during every session.  We do this by fully embodying our company values and getting to know you and your priorities well before our photo sessions.

Below are a few more of our favorite ways to support our mental wellness despite the world’s crazy current circumstances:

Time for Ourselves – Whether you work from home or not, taking breaks throughout the day is a simple way to give yourself time and space to just be.  You can get some fresh air, move your body, and clear your mind.  Apps like Headspace and Calm are helpful tools if you need a little more support to calm your mind. We also have loved virtual worship services.

Exercise – Move your body in whatever ways feel best to you.  Whether you take a walk, stretch, or do an entire workout routine, movement can add healthy energy and fuel the rest of your day.

Eating Well – We love to include plenty of fresh foods in our meal choices, try not to work through our meals, and actually take time to enjoy them.  Some of our favorite local restaurants have reopened for dine in and takeout options – You can find a list of them on our recent blog post here.

Family Time – With the kids at home and finishing classes virtually, it’s given us much more time together as a family.  Making an honest effort to intentionally use the time to bond and love on one another as we spend time together has been a blessing.

Time in Nature –  Many of our local and state parks reopened last week and are a great place to wander whether on the trails or the beaches.  Spending time outdoors has helped us to take a pause from our digital lives and reconnect with nature. It’s also a great opportunity to discover even more incredible locations for future shoots along the Emerald Coast!

As the weekend approaches, it’s the perfect time to take a break, reflect, and appreciate all that you have and can do to be the best version of yourself everyday.

What else do you do so you can show up as the best version of yourself, in person and in photos? Drop us a comment so we can add it to the list!
