Pure 7 Studios is delighted to announce that Bombora Sun & Surf and The Rosemary Beach Cottage Rental Department has chosen us for a lifestyle photography shoot of one of the most exclusive communities along 30A: Rosemary Beach. At just over 100 acres, Rosemary Beach is truly a unique setting. Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Walton County, this microcosm of Paradise is home to those seeking a vacation from the common predicaments of modern day life. From biking along the narrow, tree-lined streets to dining in any number of award winning local eateries; from window shopping at one-of-a-kind boutiques to finding that perfect piece of art for your home back in the real world, every moment spent here is a reminder of why you came. You’ll encounter everyone from casually clad families in town for a week to well-dressed celebrities taking a welcome break from Hollywood and Broadway. The one thing that everyone seems to have in common, regardless of their background, is their mutual acknowledgement that Rosemary Beach is an escape into contentment.
Having lived close by since its inception, and having witnessed firsthand its transformation into the highly sought after destination that it’s become, we were completely comfortable with being asked to capture the spirit of Rosemary Beach. We eat here, we work here, and we are intimately familiar with local events and the charity work that’s being done in town. We’ve even brought our kids here for fundraising events like Cottages for Kids, sponsored by the Children’s Volunteer Health Network. As locals, we had the advantage of already knowing just how Rosemary Beach needed to be represented. All that was left was putting a plan together and executing it!
This being one of our first lifestyle shoots of this magnitude, we were looking forward to the challenge. Pulling it off would involve casting models from all over the area, putting a wardrobe and makeup crew together, hiring PA’s, and coordinating with everyone involved in order to catch the best lighting and remain on budget and schedule.
The overall goal of this particular shoot was to tell the story of Rosemary Beach by depicting ordinary, everyday visitors in real-life situations, all while artistically capturing the beauty and essence of the community. To do so, we set about portraying a typical day here. We wanted the images to consist of everything from visitors waking up to grab gourmet coffee at Amavida to barefoot strolls along the sparkling white sand beaches. An average morning here often leads to a later bout of retail therapy and there was no shortage of quintessential shots to be had. There’s truly something here for everyone: Willow Boutique and Moonpize for the ladies; Gigi’s for the kids. For the souvenir seeker, there’s Pish Posh Patchouli’s and its endless array of specialty gifts, as well as the Rosemary Beach Trading Company. Last but certainly not least, Bombora Sun & Surf is Rosemary’s one-stop for almost everything previously mentioned. Whether you’re after designer beach apparel – some of which was used in the actual shoot – or you’re looking to catch some waves during your stay, Bombora has you covered with top of the line, brand name surf & skate boards, clothing, and gear for the entire family.
Best of all, everything is within walking distance! So when we were ready for the lunchtime portion of the shoot, relocating was the easy part. The hard part was deciding which exceptional bistros to photograph! Maybe you’re in the mood for drinks on the patio at Havana Beach Bar & Grill. Perhaps Cowgirl Kitchen and it’s Southwestern-style menu is more to your liking. Many places will even pack your food picnic-style so you’re free to enjoy your meal at the time and location of your choosing, all while relaxing and taking in the sights. Whatever conclusion you reach, be sure to save room for dessert at Sugar Shak or cap off your meal with some fine chocolate at La Crema. Afterwards, whether you’d like to work off some of that delicious food with an afternoon swim or a scenic bike ride – or if taking a nap is more your style – it’s only a matter of time before another demanding judgement call is thrust upon you: where to go for dinner. Selecting between upscale establishments like Edward’s Fine Food & Wine or the renowned Restaurant Paradis becomes exponentially easier when you realize that you really can’t go wrong no matter where you choose to dine. Another option is to visit CK’s Feed and Supply or Wild Olives, design your own menu, and make use of your well-equipped kitchen in the comfort of your temporary residence. No matter how you choose to spend your day or which meals you decide to indulge in, we wanted to convey a simple message – that it’s not hard to see why people continue to escape to Rosemary Beach year after year.
Going into projects like this, it’s important to never lose sight of the big picture. Our job was to thoroughly communicate the innumerable reasons why Rosemary Beach is the place to be. We wanted to create exposure not only to tourists but to locals alike, those possibly interested in a “stay-cation” along the Emerald Coast. It’s not hard to imagine even the people who live nearby longing for an extended stay within the surreal confines of Rosemary Beach. You sincerely get the feeling that you’re in a parallel universe, where time is kept by listening for the town bells that toll at the top of every hour and days go by without ever setting foot inside an automobile. Once you’ve made your retreat here, it’s easy to forget that you live only a short distance away.
The developers of Rosemary Beach have done an extraordinary job in realizing the owners’ visions and creating a distinctive experience for the visitors it caters to. We are thrilled to have been able to adequately capture these moments and bring them to life for our partners in the Rosemary Beach community. The added benefit of spending more time here is a perk that no one at Pure 7 is likely to complain about. We hope that potential visitors will get a genuine feel for what it’s like to frequent this remarkable area.
