When you’re looking to get away from the chains and get a taste of local fare in Destin and 30A, it can be tough to google the best options and know what kind of atmosphere they’ll have as well as if the location will be what you’re looking for. With that in mind, we thought we’d share several more options with great atmospheres and beautiful beach views to enjoy while you dine! Aside from the obvious Crab Trap and the countless restaurant options on the Harborwalk, here are some others to consider (they’re not all on the beach, but have great views or an atmosphere that can’t be topped!). Below our list, check out a few of our favorite family portraits – both posed and candids from sunset sessions (a great pre-dinner option to capture your family memories!).
Chanticleer Eatery – A great choice in Santa Rosa Beach, Chanticleer is open for lunch and dinner. They have several salad and sandwich options at lunch, and steak, pasta, burgers, and more on the dinner menu. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, and they are dog-friendly on the patio!
Nanbu Noodle Bar – Nanbu is Japanese for “southerner” and this recent new restaurant to Grayton Beach is a welcome addition! From poke bowls to ramen and more, Nanbu offers a great selection of Japanese favorites in a welcoming atmosphere. You can even order online for pickup (or delivery if you’re close!).
The Red Bar – The Red Bar in Grayton Beach re-opened in July 2020 (after a fire destroyed their original building last year). You can park in the county lot about 100 yards north of 30A on Hwy 283 and take the shuttle to them. They are well known for their live music, great food, and cocktails!
Harbor Docks – Looking for outdoor seating? Harbor Docks has you covered! Harbor Docks is another longtime Destin favorite. They pride themselves on locally sourced seafood and produce from Florida vendors.
Roux 30A– Roux 30A has been a longtime favorite of ours and their atmosphere is hard to beat! A more upscale dining experience, Roux 30A is tucked away in the art district of Grayton Beach – not right on the beach, but well worth it and close enough to get your fill of beautiful scenery and great food.
Bud and Alley’s – A waterfront restaurant with gulf views, Bud and Alley’s is a crowd-pleaser year-round in Seaside. They have a more casual atmosphere, a rooftop bar, and plenty of great menu choices.
The Bay – Over in Santa Rosa Beach, The Bay offers waterfront dining with views of Choctawhatchee Bay. They have indoor and outdoor dining options and a private beach where they host bonfires every Wednesday night.
Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar – In the heart of 30A, Shunk Gulley has seafood and casual fare, along with live music daily. Their panoramic bar area has plenty of seating to enjoy the Gulf views.
Camille’s at Crystal Beach – The sister restaurant of Harbor Docks, you can expect the same great quality food at Camille’s. Menu favorites include a thin crust pizza, seared scallops, and gulf shrimp, and an ever-changing catch of the day. Our personal favorite is their sushi! They also have a beach bar and coffee shop on the ground level, perfect for a breakfast or lunch option too!
Cafe 30A – Located in Seagrove Beach, Cafe 30A is open for dinner daily at 5 pm. Reservations are highly recommended, and they have a beautiful enclosed side porch that is perfect if you have a larger group!
Dewey Destin’s – With a couple of locations in Destin, either one you choose will share the same casual vibes and have similar food – though the harborside location has a larger menu. The original location boasts views of Crab Island and a walk-up window to place your order.
Pazzo Italiano – Pazzo is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. Open for lunch and dinner, they are a great choice for a nice family meal in Destin! They’re centrally located catty-corner from the Commons and while they don’t have a beach view, they have beautiful decor and great service. Or you can always order ahead for pick up and enjoy your meal from your condo or favorite beach!
Bijoux – In Miramar Beach, Bijoux has a more formal feel and is open 7 days a week for dinner. Coastal French cuisine, their menu includes plenty of Gulf seafood and steaks. If you have the kids in tow, there’s a beautiful outdoor courtyard available to dine in – added family fun when there are events at the center!
As you explore Destin and 30A, you’re sure to find some other great dining options with views of the beautiful Emerald Coast and/or an unbeatable atmosphere. When you find some that we haven’t shared, let us know! Leave a comment – we’d love to add it to the list!
