Summer Beach Photo Session | Plaisance Family Portraits

There’s always one. At nearly every beach photo session we shoot, there’s one family member who would rather be doing anything other than getting their picture taken. It doesn’t matter how great everyone else’s hair turned out or how perfectly the outfits coordinated. When the meltdown starts, you know it’s time to call it a day and work with what you’ve captured so far.When they’re as cute as little Miss Gabriella, though, even the grumpy shots end up as absolute keepers. So how do you make sure these once-in-a-lifetime images don’t end up in digital obscurity once the vacation high has worn off? Well, that’s where we come in.

David and Haley contacted us only a few weeks ago for a beach photo session and were able to snag one of the few openings we had left for the week they were in town. After talking with Haley, we learned they had never had a family portrait done. We chatted about the shoot, including best wardrobe colors to accent both the location background and their home decor. During that conversation, she scheduled an appointment to visit the studio prior to leaving town so she could choose her favorites and get them ordered before the post-vacation, back-to-school craziness took over.

As we headed to the beach last Friday night to meet everyone, we weren’t sure who was more excited about the shoot – us or the Plaisance family! Threatening weather had blown through quickly, as it most often does (#destindome), and left us with one of those sunset experiences that only the Emerald Coast can deliver. Lylah and Sophia had a blast, and Gabriella was a trooper for the majority of the evening. Monday morning, Haley and Lylah left the others to hang out together and headed to the studio to see which photos made the cut.

Choosing photos to display in your home or office isn’t as easy as it might sound at first. The number of photos can feel overwhelming and the impulse, many times, is to just buy the digital files and deal with it “later.” The problem with “later” is that it rarely comes. Before you know it, you’re buried in work deadlines and soccer practice schedules. If you’re in the Plaisance household, you’re also tripping over a couple bunnies, a dog, and a few ducks. All good intentions about getting pictures printed and framed end up going the way of that get-in-shape-this-year resolution made waaaaaaay back in January.

Haley took all of that into account and mulled it over while Lylah played with #roythebunny. She decided that coming home to a wall gallery of sunsets and sandy feet would be the perfect way to end the day, long after the tan lines had faded. After narrowing it down to six gorgeous canvases, she was happy to learn that all of the digital files were complimentary with her purchase, which made it easy to share with friends and family. A few hours after she left the studio, we were surprised and delighted to get an email.

“I wanted to thank you for today. You were so patient and helpful throughout this process. I could not have made the decisions on my own. I was so impressed with Ryan’s work! Amazing!!!! Seeing those photos melted my heart! The images are gorge and Ryan was able to deliver in a way that made their spirits shine through. Love! Love!! Love!!! I can’t thank you enough!”

We smiled the entire rest of the day. We couldn’t help it.
