What do you do when you’re on a first date with a beautiful girl who orders fish for the shared main course at a fondue restaurant, and you don’t like seafood?
You eat it anyway.
Nearly four years and a few fights over OU football later, that dinner paid off for Turner as he and Elaine said “I do” on an absolutely picture-perfect day in WaterColor.

We’re pretty sure Turner had a voice in the final dinner selections, because we noticed there was no seafood dish on their mouthwateringly Southern menu.

We first met Elaine & Turner last fall when they reached out to us for engagement photos. They had just bought a house together, and planned a meet-up with their family and friends in Austin to toss around decorating ideas. Turner convinced Elaine to join him for a stroll to her favorite spot while he waited for his ride to dinner, and then surprised her by popping the question. When they arrived back at the house, she was thrilled to find all of their loved ones waiting to celebrate with them. And the wedding planning began!

A few weeks ago, many of those same friends and family gathered in gorgeous WaterColor for a fun day filled with joy and laughter. Every detail was flawless, from the place cards nestled in a bed of lavender to the lush greenery adorning the tables and delicious dessert cakes (we would have chosen the peanut butter chocolate, for sure!). The most memorable detail, though, was The Dress.

While every bride’s dress is special, Elaine’s was truly unique. Though most of the original had disintegrated, small sections of the heirloom gown worn by her great-grandmother, grandmother, aunt, and mother were preserved well enough that she was able to sew her piece into her own dress. Her vintage engagement ring from the 1900’s once adorned her grandmother’s finger, allowing her to carry on the wedding day tradition of “something old” in an incredibly personal way. Elaine paid a wonderful tribute to her family’s legacy of love and commitment by choosing her dad as the first person to see her before the ceremony.

After a truly magical day, Elaine & Turner relaxed with some downtime on the beach, thoroughly enjoying what they called their “mini-moon” with a little reading, a little sailing, and a whole lot of nothing much. Later this year, they take off for their “real honeymoon” when they embark on a three-week adventure in Iceland.

Elaine & Turner may still butt heads over University of Oklahoma vs University of Texas, but one thing Elaine & Turner do agree on is the most significant moment of their wedding day was the same for both of them: The first look.
